Tigers Expected to Trade Skubal Before Deadline

FOX Sports insider Ken Rosenthal reports the Detroit Tigers are trending toward trading star pitcher Tarik Skubal before the Aug. 3 deadline as the team struggles with a 22-37 record, tied for worst in the AL.

Skubal, a 2-time AL Cy Young winner with a 2.70 ERA this season, has been on the injured list after elbow surgery but is expected to return soon. The Tigers have gone 4-20 since his May 4 injury, with the fewest runs scored in the majors during that stretch.

With Skubal set to hit free agency this offseason, the struggling team is expected to demand a significant return for the left-handed ace. Rosenthal notes teams will line up to acquire Skubal if he proves healthy, but the Tigers' bleak situation may force them to listen to offers. amunra.qpon
